Vinicius Jr complains about Yamal as Barcelona claim Super Cup
Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-2 in the Spanish Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia, but the spotlight fell on Vinicius Jr after the forward was caught complaining to officials about Lamine Yamal’s conduct.
Movistar cameras picked up Vinicius telling referee Munuera Montero that “Lamine always dives,” as frustrations boiled over during a tense Clasico. The Brazilian, often criticised himself for going to ground easily, voiced his displeasure at Barcelona’s teenage star throughout the contest.
Yamal, however, endured some rough treatment from Madrid. Álvaro Carreras produced a reckless challenge on the youngster that went unpunished, adding to the intensity of the clash. Despite the complaints, Yamal and Barcelona had the final say, lifting the first trophy of the Spanish season and extending their streak to three consecutive final victories over Real Madrid.
The match itself was a thriller. Raphinha opened the scoring before Vinicius equalised with a solo effort. Robert Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s lead in first-half stoppage time, only for Gonzalo García to level moments later. The decisive moment came in the second half when Raphinha’s shot deflected off Raúl Asencio to seal the win.
Barcelona’s triumph under Hansi Flick reinforced their growing dominance in Clasico finals, while Madrid were left to reflect on missed opportunities and the controversy surrounding their star forward. For Yamal, the night was another step in his rapid rise, proving he can withstand pressure and physical challenges on the biggest stage.
